Broom Chair
“Imagine”, says Philippe Starck, “a guy who takes a humble broom and starts to clean the workshop and with this dust he makes new magic. That’s why we call it Broom." Starck and Emeco came together to create a chair that is reclaimed, repurposed, recyclable – and designed to last.
Broom is made from 75% waste polypropylene and 15% reclaimed wood that would normally be swept into the trash. The wood particles create a speckled texture that gives the surface a warmer more natural touch.

Emeco
Emeco was founded in 1944 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, to build a chair for the U.S. Navy that was light, strong and able to survive life at sea. The 1006 Navy Chair is still made there by hand, from recycled aluminium, in seventy-seven steps.
Philippe Starck
One of the most prolific designers of the past fifty years, and a long-time collaborator of Emeco. His Broom chair turns factory waste, swept from the floor, into a stackable chair, which gave it its name.
