153A Bench
The 153 bench is lightweight, versatile piece that fits effortlessly in any space, suitable for seating, storage or display. The seat is composed of solid birch wood and features vertical recesses that make the bench light and easy to move. Combining strength with the warm organic qualities of Finnish birch, it pairs naturally with other members of the L-leg family. Thanks to Aalto’s ground-breaking L-leg system, the legs can be mounted directly to the seat without the need for complicated connecting elements.

Artek
Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by Alvar Aalto, Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl, to sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living.
Alvar Aalto
One of the founding figures of modern architecture. With his wife Aino, Aalto designed the furniture for his own buildings, the Paimio Sanatorium and the Viipuri Library. Bending Finnish birch, he gave modernism a warmer, more human material.
