Nardi is an Italian manufacturer of outdoor furniture in polypropylene and fibreglass resin: light, stackable, UV-stable and fully recyclable.

Many of its collections are by the designer Raffaello Galiotto, conceived as complete families of chairs, armchairs, stools and tables in a shared palette.

The house

A family business in the Veneto.

Giampietro Nardi founded the company in 1990 in Chiampo, in the hills near Vicenza in north-east Italy, to make outdoor furniture in resin. It is still wholly owned by the family. Giampietro is president, and his daughters Floriana and Anna have run the business together since 2011.

Production stays in Chiampo, across several facilities and a local chain of suppliers. Nardi furniture is now sold in more than 130 countries. Much of it is designed by Raffaello Galiotto as complete families of chairs, armchairs, stools and tables, so a terrace or a restaurant can be furnished in one consistent language.

One piece, moulded. Nothing to loosen, nothing to rust.

How it's made

Moulded in one piece.

Each chair is injection-moulded as a single piece from polypropylene reinforced with glass fibre. There are no joints to loosen or fixings to rust. The colour runs right through the material and is stabilised against UV, and the chairs stack.

The resin is fully recyclable at the end of the chair's life, and Nardi uses recycled material in its own production. The furniture is made for hard outdoor use: in sun, rain and salt air, and in hospitality, where it is moved every day.

An industrial designer from the Veneto who works across stone, ceramics and polymers. For Nardi he designs complete families of outdoor furniture. Each is planned around injection moulding, so a chair can be a single piece.
